How-to Route Over The Valve Cover Wires
The problem: When you install headers on an LT1, due to the location of the distributor, spark plugs wires burn in the stock location. I went through 3 sets of wires before I switched to the over-the-valve-cover type.
The solution: By routing the wires up and over the the valve covers, it prevents the wires from burning. In the stock location, the spark plug wires rest on the headers pipes.
Note: I would not install otvc wires with stock exhaust manifolds; it defeats the purpose.
What about heat?
Since I’ve installed these wires, I’ve had no wire burning issues.
Performance gains?
I didn’t notice any seat-of-the-pants improvement in performance, but getting spark is better then no spark. =)
